New Artist

Description: The New Artist program at Phillips Elementary is designed to spark 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student’s  interest in the visual arts. The program exposes students to the fundamentals of visual art and creative expression using a a variety of media.

Allentown Academy

Programming Times: Grades 2-3: Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 2:30-5:00pm

Description: Allentown Academy offers curriculum review, homework assistance and a variety of enrichment activities. Children will have the opportunity to perform science experiments, create art projects, learn about various cultures from around the world and participate in organized physical recreation and team building activities.

Opera Connections

Description: Children (and their parents) in grades 3, 4, and 5 will have the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Opera together! Participants are able to learn more about the basics and history of opera through pre-show workshops, backstage tours and two free performances throughout the year!

“Let’s Read Together!”

Description: In partnership with UPMC HillTop Family Care Connections, Brashear staff will engage preschoolers in a full hour of age appropriate reading, songs, games and crafts!

Programming Times: Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Dates of Operation: Wednesday, October 14th through Wednesday, April 13th.

Description:   Educational enrichment and mentoring are offered to girls in the third, fourth, and fifth grades who reside in the hilltop communities.  Partners include:  Duquesne University, Hill Top United Methodist Church, and Strong Women/Strong Girls.
